Every viable pairing in the collection, scored against every active goal, with the clutch odds attached. Not the pairing you did last year because it worked.

If I hold this hatchling back, what does it actually unlock?

The keep-score names the project it serves and the season it pays off in — so a holdback is a decision, not a hunch you re-litigate every year.

Am I one season from this goal, or four?

The path planner counts the generations. And when the collection genuinely can't get there, it names the exact gene you have to go buy.

Female capacity is the real constraint at every collection size. The board sorts by which project each pairing serves and how far it moves it.

What should have happened by now, and hasn't?

One logged lock projects ovulation, pre-lay shed, lay and hatch. A season that stalls raises its hand in March instead of being noticed in June.

Goal paths

Set the target once. It plans the years.

Write down the animal you're chasing — genes and copy counts, not a vague idea. Every pairing you could make gets scored against it, including the ones that don't produce the goal but produce the tool that gets you there next season.

  • Direct and multi-generation routes. If nothing in the collection hits the goal this year, it finds the two- and three-season route through holdbacks instead.
  • Possible hets carried through the math. A 66% het isn't treated as a het. Carrier probability follows the animal down every branch.
  • Missing genes named out loud. When the collection genuinely cannot get there, it tells you exactly which gene you have to go buy.
  • Goals ranked by priority. Season capacity is finite — the board sorts females by which project they serve.

  • Keep-score, explained. Goal hit weighted by project priority, rarity of the combo, homozygous status, and whether the sex fills a hole in next season's board.
